My Sew EZ Touch Pad with ribbon/wire harness |
 |
| |
Electronic end/adaptor which attaches to the My Sew EZ wire harness and electronic device such as your phone, ipod, MP3 player, etc. **Important – This piece MUST ALWAYS be removed before laundering |
 |
| |
Items you will need:
- Jacket or garment to insert the My Sew EZ Touch kit into **When selecting a jacket be sure to examine the seams and lining closely to make sure you will be able to open and close the seams easily. Some jackets do not have a lining at all and this is also suitable. Try to envision the sleeve with the embroidery in place. The sleeve needs to be smooth and seamless in the area where the embroidery will be stitched.
- My Sew EZ Touch Kit **Kit includes electronic touch pad, electronic device adaptor, embroidery designs, step by step instructions, and Stabilizing Solutions Video.
- Sewing and/or serger thread to match the garment **Using a serger to re-seam the sleeve after you have opened it will give a more professional finish
- Seam Ripper or small sharp tipped embroidery scissors
- Embroidery Thread
- Floriani Perfect Stick
- Floriani Template Tearaway (pressure sensitive, printable, design placement paper)
- Water Soluble, Fabric safe Glue Stick
- Floriani Water Soluble Topping
**Optional stabilizers to have on hand for different fabric types – Floriani No Show Nylon Mesh Fusible for knit fabric, Floriani Dream Weave for silk, nylon or satin jackets, Floriani Heat N Sta Tearaway for light cotton or linen, Floriani Wet N Stick w/grid (use this sticky tearaway in place of Floriani Perfect Stick if you have trouble lining your designs up. Wet N Stick w/grid has printed lines on the actual stabilizer and will help tremendously with lining your design up in the embroidery frame)
EMBROIDERING THE MY SEW EZ TOUCH DESIGN ONTO A GARMENT SLEEVE |
| 1. |
Pre-wash or dry-clean the item to be embroidered if possible. It is better to eliminate shrinkage before the embroidery is applied to the garment. |
| 2. |
Place the DVD included in the Kit into your computer (be sure your computer has a DVD Driver) and open the My Sew EZ Touch embroidery design in your embroidery software. Print the image of the design chosen onto the Template Tearaway. Be sure to print the hoop outline and centering cross hair lines as well. This will help with the placement of the design. Once the image is printed, trim the Template Tearaway down to the printed hoop size. |
 |
 |
| 3. |
If possible, place the garment on the body of the person that will be wearing it.Position and stick the Template on the sleeve in the desired area for the My Sew EZ Touch. Remove the garment.
**Be sure the template is facing the correct direction. The lock icon should be at the top. |
 |
 |
 |
| 4. |
Carefully open the sleeve (and lining if applicable) of the garment along the seam line. Cut an opening large enough to turn the sleeve for embroidery. **If needed, prep the garment with the correct stabilizer. For example: A thin, stretchy moisture wick fabric would need a layer of Floriani No Show Nylon Mesh fused to the back of it for better embroidery. |
 |
| 5. |
Place one layer of Floriani Perfect Stick in the embroidery frame with the paper side facing up. Score the paper, peel it back and expose the sticky surface of the stabilizer. |
 |
| 6. |
Press the opened sleeve down to the sticky surface, smooth out any wrinkles. Try to align the printed template crosshairs with the crosshairs on the embroidery frame. Be sure you have the design sleeve/design running in the right direction. The lock icon should be at the top. |
 |
 |
| 7. |
Place the hoop and garment on the embroidery machine. |
| 8. |
Select the embroidery design in your machine. Position the design so that the needle will align with the printed cross hairs on the Template Tearaway. Turn the hand-wheel of your machine to make sure the needle drops into the crosshairs appropriately. |
 |
| 9. |
Remove the template from the surface of the garment. |
| 10. |
Place one layer of Floriani Water Soluble Topping on the surface of the garment. Secure the corners with clear tape to make sure they don’t catch on the machines presser foot during the stitching process. |
| 11. |
Stitch the design. |
 |
 |
| 12. |
Once stitching is complete, carefully remove all stabilizers and press the embroidery. |
INSERTING THE MY SEW EZ TOUCH PAD INTO THE GARMENT SLEEVE |
| 1. |
Lay out the garment sleeve on a clean work surface. The right side of the sleeve and embroidery should be facing down. The backside of the embroidery should be facing up. |
| 2. |
Use the glue stick and place a layer of glue around the outside edge of the MY SEW EZ Touch pad. The glue should be on the side with the white dots. Use only enough glue to keep the pad from shifting or moving while you are sewing. |
 |
 |
| 3. |
Match the white dots on the touch-pad to the back of the embroidery stitching. **Remember- the ribbon end of the touch-pad should be at the top of the design. Once aligned, smooth down the touch pad making sure the white dots are directly over the back of the embroidered control icons.
(Caution! If touch-pad is not aligned correctly the controls may not function properly.) |
 |
 |
| 4. |
Stitch the touch-pad in place with a straight stitch. Be sure to stitch around the outer edge of the pad only and DO NOT stitch over the ribbon. |
 |
 |
| 5. |
Test the device. ** Before proceeding with closing the sleeve it is advised to attach the electronic end and test the device. This will ensure you have aligned the embroidered icons with the touch pad controls properly. |
| 6. |
Stitch the sleeve closed. |
 |
| 7. |
Feed the ribbon from the touch pad up the sleeve and down into the garment. If the garment is lined (the ribbon will be between the lining and the jacket) it may be necessary to create a buttonhole type opening in the lining to feed the ribbon through to the inside of the garment. |
 |
| 8. |
Connect the ribbon/electronic end to the device and place the device into an inside pocket of the garment. |
 |
 |
 |
| 9. |
You are now ready to control the device from the sleeve or position of the My Sew EZ Touch. |
 |
| 10. |
Enjoy! |
