| LET'S
GET STARTED! |
|
1. |
Print visor template (pattern) and trim.
Click here to open pattern in browser for printing.
(Please make sure your computer is set to allow pop-ups) |
 |
 |
| 2. |
1) Fuse fashion fabric for top side of the visor to the Stitch
N Shape. Use a cotton setting on your iron and steam.
*Remember that both sides of the Stitch N Shape are fusible.
It is important to place a Teflon press sheet or parchment
paper on your ironing board to protect it from the exposed
fusible side of the product. |
 |
| 3. |
Place
the visor pattern on the surface of the fabric/Stitch N Shape
piece and trace around the outside with your favorite marking
tool. |
 |
 |
| 4. |
Trim
to within 1/8" of the line. |
 |
| 5. |
Place one piece of your favorite Floriani Sticky product within
the hoop. |
 |
| 6. |
Stick the fabric/Stitch N Shape piece down and smooth into
place to ensure a good bond. |
 |
| 7. |
Use
the layout and trace features of your machine to position
the embroidery design and then Stitch! *See directions below
for using Template Tearaway to position your embroidery design. |
 |
 |
 |
| 8. |
When
the embroidery is complete, remove the piece from the hoop
and remove the excess stabilizer from the back of the design
and trim any loose threads.(top and bottom) |
 |
| 9. |
Fuse
the second piece of fabric (underside of visor) to the backside
of the Stitch N Shape using a cotton setting on your iron
and steam. |
 |
 |
| 10. |
Trim
the piece directly on the visor template line. |
 |
| 11. |
Set
your sewing machine for a 4mm width zig zag stitch, normal
length and place your appliqué (satin stitch) presser
foot on the machine. |
 |
| 12. |
Stitch
around the outside of the visor letting the needle swing on
the outside of the visor. |
 |
 |
 |
| 13. |
Set
your sewing machine to a 5mm or 6mm width and shorten the
stitch length to a satin stitch (Test on a scrap to ensure
the best stitch quality) |
| 14. |
Place
a strip of Floriani Topping (Heat N Gone or Water Soluble)
on the surface of the visor so that it will be trapped under
the stitching as you sew. **This
step is optional but it certainly makes a difference in the
quality of your satin stitching! Try stitching on a scrap,
once with the topping and once without, you will be amazed
at the difference! |
 |
| 15. |
Stitch
around the visor letting the needle swing on the outside of
the visor slightly. Stitch slowly and remember to stop with
your needle down for accurate pivoting around curves. |
 |
| 16. |
Remove the topping according to the directions of the package.
*Because you are satin stitching, it should tear away from
being perforated by the needle quite easily. |
| 17. |
Using the template as your guide, punch a hole in each end
of the visor and thread the ends of the curly shoe string
through! |
 |
 |
| 18. |
Voila! Your personalized visor is ready to wear! |
 |
| **Using
Floriani Template Tearaway to position the embroidery design
on your visor is accurate and easy
..here is how you
do it: |
| 1. |
Load
one sheet of Template Tearaway in your printer's paper tray. |
| 2. |
Print
the design template from your embroidery software. This should
include cross hairs to aid in alignment and a square around
the design showing the hoop size and/or the outer perimeter
of the actual design. |
 |
| 3. |
Trim
the Template Tearaway on the square around the design. (stitching
perimeter or hoop size) |
 |
 |
| 4. |
Peel
back the release paper to expose the sticky surface. |
 |
| 5. |
Stick
the Template Tearaway to the visor in the desired position,
re-position if needed. |
 |
 |
| 6. |
Using
the printed cross-hair lines running through the design as
a guide, position the visor on the surface of the sticky stabilizer
aligning the printed cross-hairs with the hoops centering
marks. Place the embroidery frame on the machine. |
 |
| 7. |
Lower
the machines presser foot to make sure you are centered. If
not, use your layout or trace feature to move the hoop if
needed. Lower your needle in the printed cross hairs for a
final check before you begin stitching. |
 |
| 8. |
Once
the centering of the design is satisfactory, remove the Template
Tearaway from the surface of the visor and place it back on
its protective paper for use again. Stitch your design! |
